a lady's story of a simple way to reduce some myopia

minus glasses make your eyes worse! This is why my bro is only about -1.5 and -2 diopters(left, right eye) He doesnt like wearing minus glasses and only does so to drive or read lectures in classes! Hes 20/60 and 20/80 uncorrected. I overwore minus glasses when I first started out as -1! I am now -5.5(right) -6(left) but have improved almost a diopter so far emoticon

My sister says she tried to put glasses off for a while. I guess she held steady at about -2 like my bro was then she begin wearing full power contacts, well she can kiss her vision bye! Her old pescription was -2.5 for glasses but she got tired of glasses after a short time and decided to get contacts. At this point she needed -2.75 contacts(equivalent to -3.44 glasses, round to 3.5)and her uncorrected vision is just barely 20/200! In fact she had to move a few feet closer to be sure it was an E so shes probably -3.6 to -3.8 now. Still good enough for 20/25 or even 20/20 corrected vision for some people despite traces of myopia.

Very important story. Some excerps:

This site is devoted to myopia prevention, but plus lenses can improve existing myopia even in adults. That's what I did, improving from -5.00 to -3.7 in one eye, and from -3.25 to -2.4 in the other. Yes, I'm still myopic, but this is a very noticable improvement.

She put plus lense over her minus glasses to make em weaker and therefore wean yourself off them. You can and should read without glasses if convinent. I now make it a habit to read with NO glasses!

Is this a cure? Can I throw away my glasses?" No, not completely, not if you have more than about -1.25 diopters of myopia, but it will make you better and the price is right: free

This is just one way to exercise. You can easily improve further by doing more than just good reading habits. In my book on natural vision improvement, a 2 diopter improvent is very doable and even more such as 3 depending on the person, how dedicated he is and how well he exercises.

It takes a while to learn -- don't expect instant results. To give you some idea, it took eight weeks of very diligent effort to get the greatest part (80%) of my improvement, with some additional progress over the next six months.

ditto. Its been 2 months since I exercised and I achieved near a diopter improvement. It may take a while yet to improve another diopter but I will do it!

" In four weeks, even in one or two, you should definitely have improved some."

I improved half a diopter the first week, had some regressions but kept exercising to keep it and improve more.

anyway I hopefully will improve another half diopter when I return from vacation. There will be pratically no close work during this time so itll give my ciliary muscles their chance to really relax. I am getting weaker glasses when I return to further my improvement. I want to be at least 1 diopter undercorrected which will give me 1 meter focal point because I sit 80-100cm from my monitor. The -3.5 glasses I have now undercorrect me by not much more than 1 diopter by now and itll be less than -1 undercorrect when I return from vacation. Therefore I am getting -2.75 and -2 glasses. Lets say I improve to -4.25 the -2.75 will undercorrect me 1.5 and give me 67cm focal point. Ill be able to see from 80cm but a little blurry which over time will become sharp again then its onto the -2 glasses!

pilots story. went from -1.5 20/60 to 20/20 after a while. went to 20/40 easy but had to really work to clear 20/20. He ultimately wants to achieve 20/15 since his eyes are capable of that emoticon

more stuff:

IMPROVING YOUR VISION
You can see farthest when the focusing muscle inside your eye (the ciliary muscle) is most relaxed. Since most people, especially nearsighted people, don't fully relax that muscle, you can improve your vision by learning how.

This is what I hear all the time. Even in Bate's book he blames the ciliary muscle. Supposedly as the ciliary muscle gets stressed it becomes stuck in an accomodative lock and with more stress it pulls the eye into an oblong shape. Many websites say advanced myopia enlongates your eye from years of bad habit. Anyone can improve but complete improval becomes much harder or impossible the more advance your myopia is due to many years of bad habits. Too much has changed in the eye for too long but you can still undo alot of that and be very happy. This lady improved 1.25 diopters and I read about reports of pilots improving as much as 2 diopters(20/80 to 20/20 or 20/15)but they have special eyes that had perfect vision before bad habits and glasses make them see 20/20 or even better. The average human eye is generally 20/40 without bad habits. I see many people achieve only 20/40 or worse with best correction to plano. Those with very high myopia have such bad eyes that they can never get better than like 20/100 with any glasses!

Let me repeat her story. Props go to her for her experience and teaching others how to improve their vision based on this simple exercise!
