should I go for full power glasses?

Hello all, I present this dilemna. Right now I wear -4.25 glasses for distance, same power for both eyes. The -5.5(left) and -5(right) I was pescribed are no longer correct as they are too strong plus the axis/angle of my astigmastim has changed as it always does from time to time. This is one reason the astigmastim was left out in the glasses as mine changes all the time. I also chose to be slightly undercorrected to take care of my pseudomyopia. This has paid off and my vision has improved by .75 diopters in each eye. My -4.25 glasses actually fully correct me in the right eye now except for the astigmastim part. Heres my options:

1. fully correct myself of all myopia and astigmastim. (should I go for progressives for my "presbyopia" as ive been told by the ophthamologist?)

2. fully correct myself of all myopia but ignore all astigmastim and DONT compenstate for spherical equivalent! This has two reasons, one is my astigmastim is never constant and two is I heard astigmastim sometimes just "goes away"

3. Correct both my myopia and astigmastim but not fully. How much undercorrection is needed in order to preserve my vision and improve upon it? half diopter undercorrection enough for distance glasses?

4. Any other options?

If you just want to insult me, dont even bother replying. Dr. xxxx is probably going to insult me anyway, sorry this is a waste of time and not helping me. My dilemna is some of my myopia is pseudo and I need to know what actions to take. I will be sticking to an undercorrection around the house and for the computer, but I need to know what I should go for distance glasses. Will I ruin my eyes if I dont leave any undercorrection for distance? I only wear distance glasses maybe 2-3 hours a day for watching TV and when I get out of the house. Comments everyone, especially from Otis!

Re: should I go for full power glasses?

got em and im not happy! See all my posts!

I posted this origonally here!

Hi again, its been several days and I still cant get used to them. I wore the new glasses for watching a movie and my eyes hurt afterwards and I got a headach! I think I am going to have to order new glasses, ill get one pair that will correct less than the full amount of cylindar and one pair that ignores my cylindar alltogether. I wont achieve BCVA but comfort and NOT getting headaches is what matters. I will see what the optometrist says. I will ask him and you guys here about two other possible options:

left eye: -4.5 sphere(will give me 20/40 by ignoring -.75 cylindar)
right eye: -3.75 sphere(will give me 20/60 by ignoring -1.5 cylindar, but add -.25 more sphere. In fact I have a pair of glasses with -3.75 for both so I know)

left eye: -4.25 sphere(will give me 20/50 slight undercorrection In fact I have a pair of glasses with -4.25 for both so I know)
right eye: -3.75 sphere(will give me 20/60 by ignoring -1.5 cylindar, but add -.25 more sphere)

left eye: -4.25 sphere, -.5 cylindar(will give me 20/40 one line undercorrect)
right eye: -3.75 sphere, -.5 cylindar(will give me 20/50 one line undercorrect)

my ophthamologist said some of his patients prefer to wear their old glasses or be undercorrected because full power strains their eyes and gives headaches. Same problem for me. The astigmastim correction really bugs me though! To be honest, I dont think I ever had glasses with more than -.5 cylindar in them. The optometrist always seemed to go for spherical equivalent. Maybe this is what me and my eyes preferred even though my visual accuracy is equal or better by properly refracting my cylindar. I can see perfect(20/30 bcva) with a -5 spherical equivalent in the left eye. The right eye sees worse with a spherical equivalent cause I have too much cylindar. -4.25 is its spherical equivalent and it gives me 20/50.

I will give my new glasses a little more time, but my eyes arent happy with them. visual accuracy isnt the problem, eyestrain and headaches are. Maybe my eyes will change/improve durning that time. I wear my -3.25 OU glasses most of the time. Great for intermediate but a little blurry for distance at 20/80 in the better eye.
