Accommodative Intraocular Lens (IOL) to reduce presbyopia!
http://www.centerforeyecare.com/index.cfm/lvctechnology/accomodative
With those, you will have a little accomodation ability which can go a long way actually. Without accomodation, things less than 20 feet will start to get blurry! However the blur would be so little till about 6 feet where you will start to notice it. This means reading glasses for anything less than 3-6 feet from you. Now lets say those accomodating IOLs give you a diopter to accomodate things from 3 feet and up will be crystal clear. Youd only need reading glasses if you read stuff less than arm length away from you.
This is the start and when I get older say 35 or 40 and my presbyopia gets really bad I could go for something like this so ill see great from distance and pretty good from near Right now I have about 2.5 diopters of accomodation so even if I were to get lasik I would still be able to read, albet text would be somewhat blurry without reading glasses. Using the computer wont be blurry since its far enough. However it would get worse slowly then id be using reading glasses or get accomodation lenses to reduce my dependancy on readers.
Right now I will just keep exercising my eyes to reduce some myopia and enjoy my near vision. Myopia can be a good thing if you do alot of reading and near work then this means no reading glasses and crystal sharp near vision. What I lack from distance, I make up from near. Still I say my -5d of myopia is too much, I really only need -2d to -3d of it and ill still see just fine from near with very little loss of near vision but ill gain alot of distance vision. I want to be 20/200 or better for distance
I dont know when or if I will get lasik or some other surgury, it would have to depend on how good/bad my vision is and how advanced technology becomes

Re: Accommodative Intraocular Lens (IOL) to reduce presbyopia!
right now IOL technology is in its infancy but its better than no accomodation at all. I read that in 10 years presbyopia will be a thing of the past. That im not so sure but we always have monovision and accommodative IOLs to at least reduce the dependancy on reading glasses. That and myopia is your friend for presbyopes
