Well it looks like ill be giving soft contact lens orthoK a try very soon!

My eyes really suck at -5(left) -4.5(right) they used to be worse but
thanks to NVI they have improved about a diopter! I want to chop off
more myopia so its soft contact lens orthoK for me! Improvements of up
to 2 diopters have been measured for those who have tried! Ill be happy
with at least a diopter reduction, that combined with my countined
efforts at NVI will make a real dent in my significent myopia. Myopia
blurs expotentionally. -1 blurs very little, -2 is three times as bad,
-3 is many times worse, -4 is already off the charts! High myopia at -6
is so bad without correction you are functionally blind and helpless
without full time correction, everything would be massivately blurry, a
bunch of fuzzy colors.

My order has been confirmed by email! I ordered a box of six focus day and night +6 contacts! They should act like orthoK lenses when worn inversely or inside out to make them reverse geometry! A 1 diopter improvement will bring me to 20/400, a 1.5d for 20/300 and if I get very lucky and improve 2.25d, 20/200!

I have been simulating what to expect with scl orthoK by looking at the surroundings with a -1.5 lens! I noticed I can actually see this computer monitor if I sit up strait and dont lean back in my chair. Granted its blurry and hard to read, but I can still read it all! Ill probably still want to wear computer glasses most of the time to make text crisp and clear but at times when I just dont feel like wearing glasses, I have a choice.

Right now at -4.5 in the better right eye, I can only see my big toe when I look down at my feet. Placing a -1.5 lens takes me down to -3 and I can see every toe no problem! Its amazing that I can see all of me without glasses if scl orthoK takes -1.5 diopters away.

I also simulated what itll be like to see the digital red LED clock 1.33 meters from my bed at -3 and I can easily see it! With the full -4.5 I can barely see it, its little more than a bright red smear. Some people make this one of their reasons for lasik, ill be achieving the same safely with scl orthoK! The only difference is my digital clock will be somewhat blurry but I dont care as long as I can easily and readily see it which I can by placing a -1.5 lens.

Another benefit is ill be able to read from 13 inches instead of 9! Makes reading much more convinent! When eating, ill be able to see the food clearly on the middle of the table. At -4.5 I have to lean closer to see what food is there for the picking.

There are alot of other benefits to being -3 instead of -4.5, ill see 20/300, a 100% improvement over 20/600! This is still bad but nothing like functionally blind!

I really hope scl orthoK gives me that -1.5 improvement! Tolerating it isnt the most of my worries, achieving at least 1.5 diopter improvement is. I read that up to 2 diopter improvement can be expected with the highest plus. One lady improved 1 diopter with +3.75 so its reasonable to expect 1.5 with +6.

I will keep you up to date in this thread and will make new threads with the news of scl orthoK and even provide photos simulating my improvement!
