Hyperopia is NOT good. Blurred vision at all distances when presbyopic!

his statement disagreeing with someone

"I disagree. I think this argument mostly applies to people who really
don't know anything about presbyopia. My goal is clear distant vision.
Slight hyperopia will cause blurred distant vision decades later than
at the age of 40. And when I'm that old (I'm 25 now) who knows what
method will be used to fight presbyopia. I might not even have my own
lens because of cataract... I might not even live... I have no trouble
with wearing bifocals when I am that old. In my opinion plano is the
ideal (but rare) outcome, overcorrection is second best and
undercorrection the worst because you must still wear glasses for
distant vision, meaning most of the time."

my statement disagreeing with his

If you choose slight hyperopia, youll end up needing reading glasses much earlier than the age of 40. One optometrist says he knows of not one hyperope who could still see from near without plus glasses past the age 42. This means best case scinerio, you wont need glasses up till 42 but most likley youll need glasses in your early to mid 30s first for reading then bifocals. Dont bet on a solution to presbyopia short of bionic eyes. Everything has been tried and none really work. Presbyopia is very complex with many factors and is just part of getting older. The best way to solve presbyopia is to work around it and we have monovision, bifocals, progressives, undercorrection. I sure hope you dont plan to get cateracts or die at the age of 40. You dont mind bifocals? Then whats the point of lasik if your gonna lose some ability to see at night, get dryer eyes and who knows what else just to stay out of glasses for 5-10 years then back in bifocals full time because you wont see clear at any distance.

I strongly disagree. My opinion is that myopia(as long as its not too high) is the best because you only need glasses for driving and maybe for watching movies or attending lectures. The rest of the time you dont need them and your vision up close is super sharp, something very important for most people because in todays society, people use their eyes for near much of their lives. This is how they became myopic in the first place, its an evolutionary adaption to see better from near. Humans have evolved into myopic states because of all the reading and computers we do. Many years ago, myopia was much more rare as much less reading was done and much more distance.

Plano is the second best, but for those who hate reading and computers, its the best. Plano is great for pilots, athlates, hunters, soldiers, etc. Not so good for readers, computer programmers, artists, etc. With presbyopia you wont see clearly less than 5-6 feet, something us myopes have the gift of.

Astigmastim is completely useless that I know of as it always causes blurred vision at all distances. Hyperopia isnt so problamatic if your young and can accomodate around it but when you get older you wont see clear at any distance and must wear bifocals for everything. If you were myopic instead, youd be able to go without glasses for anything close up.

here we go again,

what statement (his statement) and where did this get posted at this site???? i see it nowhere on this site.

and you wonder why people have abandoned this site and don't post here AT ALL ANYMORE?

responses to theoretical posts or responses to posts that don't show up on this site, that is all i see here.

you are living in some kind of fantasy eyesite world, you have dominated and debated everyone AWAY from this site...

sad, really, cause it seems you have some intelligence on the eyesite front. i have to assume you are in college and working towards a degree of some kind in the optical world????

if not, you are crossing the line with borderline comments and RX opinions......

Many of my posts is my research from elsewhere. I often mention "This is a repost from another site that im posting here for your education and research" I get tons of guests who read my site for their research. Many dont post because they have nothing to say. They like to read and learn emoticon
