going beyond 20/20 with lasik a good read on high order aberrations

Also check out those simulators. I disagree with the 20/30, 20/40, 20/xxx one. The blur is nowhere as bad as what I experience! As for the high order aberivation one, it applies for severe cases. With that much aberivation, your vision will still suck even if its 20/40 or 20/50 the world will be disorted, especially at night. Everyone has some aberivations thats why most people can not see 20/20 with or without glasses. This especially goes the higher your myopia is cause of glasses minification and the fact your eyes suck.

Very good read on types of high order aberrations. They say 20/20 is "perfect" vision and the best you can get without addressing the ~20% high order aberrations. Correct them all and you can get at least 20/8 vision then the limit is your retina(cone, rod density and location, retina health, etc)I read around that 20/5 is the ultimate limit but some say 20/4, 20/3 and one even says 20/2.5! There is a popular website, www.i-see.org that has a 3 page snellen that goes down to 20/4 as well as a few other charts! Its debatable exactly what the limit is, but almost everyone agrees its better than 20/10 emoticon

My program isnt sophisicated enough to simulate exactly what I see, but those photos on high order aberrations closely reflect what I see.

Image

The above photo shows trefoil and coma. This appears to be what I see. The larger letters arent a problem but it "smudges" fine details like smaller letters. I also have regular and irregular astigmastim which causes doubling and smearing. Together with my high order aberrations and astigmastims, I see 20/30 in the left eye and the right eye is worse, being closer to 20/40 best corrected. The right eye sees shadowing and doubling on the eyechart. The left has no shadowing nor doubling and less aberrations so things are clearer. Neither eye can see 20/20 due to a minification issue. My glasses make things smaller and more far-away. If I walk closer to the chart I can then see 20/20. You had really amazing optics to be seeing 20/15 before lasik *with* the minification of your glasses! Probably very, very few aberrations of any kind. I dont see this good even thru a pinhole! Thru a pinhole, the left eye can see all of the 20/25 line no problem but the 20/20 is too small thanks to glasses minification. The right eye is worse and sees half of the 20/25 but it appears "smudged" but theres no doubling nor smearing thru the pinhole. My topographies show lots of aberrations in the center of my eyes, especially the right.
